Siemens
Siemens started doing business in the UK in 1843, over 160 years ago. Unsurprisingly they have been at the forefront of technological change many times and today produce innovative, high quality products for customers across the world.
Siemens was established by a 19 year old engineer, William Siemens following his move from Hamburg. William Siemens took out several patents, some developed with his brother, Werner Siemens. Some of these related to telegraph equipment, which provided the basis for the future growth of the Siemens business.
The company, Siemens Halske, was established as a partnership by Werner Siemens in 1847. The aim of this new company was to realise the potential of the latest advances in communications technology.
More recently, Siemens has been behind the first 1Mb memory chip to go into production (1988), the world’s fastest neural computer (Synapse 1 in 1992) and the first GSM mobile phone with colour display (1997).
At Nicomm we have a range of Siemens DECT cordless phones, including the very popular Siemens Gigaset range of cordless phones.
