The Brother MFC-7840W fax machine is just the same as an analogue telephone like you would have at home. This means that it will connect to a standard BT telephone line or any other analogue line you may have. Also if you want to connect the Brother MFC-7840W fax into a telephone system it will connect as long as it is to an analogue extension. It will not work on an extension designed for a specific type of system telephone.
