The Siemens Gigaset E45 is an additional handset and charger that will register to an existing Siemens Gigaset E455 SIM cordless telephone. Each Siemens Gigaset E455 SIM cordless telephone has a base station that emits a DECT signal that the handsets can register to. It is to this DECT signal that the Siemens Gigaset E45 cordless handset will register and then become another handset extension on the system.
Each Siemens Gigaset E455 SIM base station can actually register up to 4 handsets in total. So including the one it comes with you can register an additional 3 Siemens Gigaset E45 DECT cordless handsets.

Just like the telephone that comes with the Siemens Gigaset E455 SIM the Siemens Gigaset E45 are a dust, shock, and splash resistant. Also the Siemens E45 cordless handsets have the same colour LCD screen and facilities as the original.
Each Siemens Gigaset E45 DECT handset comes with its own charger that it can also sit in when not in use. As the handsets connect wirelessly they also do not need a socket for the telephone line just a power supply for the charger.
