Two Way Radios
Two-way radios have probably changed somewhat since you had a walkie-talkie as a child. They are also used much more extensively than just a security communication device.
A Range of Radio Uses
Two-way radios can be used in a variety of situations including schools, between friends as a cheaper alternative to mobile phones, contractors on building sites, outdoor activities like hill walking or cycling, or perhaps used for parents to keep in contact with their children.
Distance need not be a concern as either the most basic two-way radios can have a range of up to 5 km, with some models being up to 9 km. One main advantage of two-way radios is that they are almost free to use, unlike mobile phones. All that is required is a battery or two and even then, rechargeable batteries make this a low cost form of communication.
The Nicomm range of two-way radios come from the leading radio manufacturers such as Kenwood, Cobra and Motorola.
