Over the Head Headsets
There are several types of headset wearing styles - over the head, over the ear, in the ear, behind
the neck. Whilst the style you choose is personal preference, there are some practical reasons that may aid your
decision.
Over the Head Headsets
This is probably the most common headset wearing style and the one most favoured by office workers.
The Over the Head style is preferred by users who require a stable position, especially where the headset is worn all
day. These users require their headsets to remain securely in position and be comfortable throughout the day. The Over
the Head headset features an adjustable head band that allows the user to find the perfect headset wearing position.
Ensuring the Wearers Comfort
Buying considerations when selecting an Over the Head headset include the weight and robustness
of the headset. It is important for heavy users to have a headset that is high quality and will withstand all day use.
The weight of the head band is also important as it can significantly alter the wearing experience over the course of
the day. It is perhaps therefore worth selecting a headset with a light but ruggedly built headband.
Another consideration to take into account with Over the Head headsets is whether you'd prefer a
monaural headset or a binaural headset. As the name suggests, the monaural headset features only a mono sound, either
through one speaker or two; the singular earpiece monaural headphone allows the user to hear callers as well as other
people around them, but sound quality is depleted. Conversely the binaural headset has two earpieces, which produce
stereo sound, allowing the user to concentrate fully on the caller and blocking out more background noise.
