Canon Updates i-SENSYS Printer Range

Canon has had a busy start to the new year with a raft of initiatives across its printer portfolio. Its latest move include the February launch of an updated i-SENSYS range with a new duplex-capable all-in-one, two mono laser printers for small offices and home users and a restyling of the established Canon LBP2900 Lasershot.

Double Fast

The new network-ready Canon i-Sensys MF4370dn, which is an upgrade of the popular Canon MF5570, offers print, copy, fax and colour scanning with enhancements including time, paper and environment saving double-side print capabilities. Printing is also performed at the double with a reduced warm up time of 10 seconds and a first copy delivered in an impressive 8.6 seconds, a feat Canon claims is class leading. Overall print speeds of 20pppm at 1200 x 600 dpi resolution are delivered from a desk-friendly compact unit. Faxing is not a tardy task either with a Super G3 modem offering minimum page transmission times of three seconds. Colour scanning is offered at 9600 x 9600 dpi with format options including PDFs.

On The Fast Track

The two new black and white laser units, the Canon i-SENSYS LBP3310 and the Canon i-SENSYS LPB3370, are also quick off the mark. Both offer a zero warm up time and a first print which can be pumped out in 6.5 seconds, mono pages dispensed at a rate of 26 per minute. That impressive first print time is particularly useful for users with a typical requirement for small, frequent print jobs. Integral double-sided printing functionality are among other shared benefits, whilst points of difference include the Canon LBP3370’s built-in network interface and Ethernet port for simple LAN integration, with the 3310 networkable via an optional interface card. The latter also incorporates a new version of Canon’s Advanced Printing Technology (CAPT) which capitalise on the host’s PC processing power to speed printing. Print resolution is up to 2400 x 600 dpi.

Looking Good

Completing the i-SENSYS revamp is the Canon LBP2900B, a contemporary restyling in deep black of the existing LBP2900. The specification of the new look model is the same as its predecessor which remains within the range.
